NEW DAMEN SEAXPLORER 75
A true expedition yacht
Shipbuilders DAMEN and AMELS are proud to announce the sale of their second SeaXplorer Yacht. SeaXplorer is a yacht range with full capability for remote destinations, from polar to tropical areas.
The New 75-metre purpose-built SeaXplorer is a highly customized and luxury expedition yacht. It will have exceptional facilities like a dive centre, a submersible hangar and a complete heliport. The yacht will be delivered in the second half of 2020.
Commercial director Rose Damen says: “Our client plans to visit some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the world. They will be skiing and snowboarding on pristine slopes like Kamchatka and submersible diving and sport fishing in Papua New Guinea and the Galápagos Islands. They will be in places with no supporting infrastructure, no roads and no heliports within range. So we designed the SeaXplorer 75 to carry out such complex operations with the highest level of safety, redundancy and autonomy.”

The SeaXplorer 75 will accommodate 12 guests as well as 25 crew and expedition staff. The full custom interiors will feature the finest luxury quality and finishing created by the Owner’s choice of interior designer. The layout includes plenty of outdoor spaces for al fresco dining and enjoying the sun and sea, SeaXplorer’s unique bow point observation lounge with panoramic views, and seven luxurious suites on Main Deck and Upper Deck. Other facilities on board are: a wellness centre; a sun deck Jacuzzi; a below-deck garage for jet skis, snowmobiles and tenders. The yacht even has retractable zero-speed stabilisers for use in ice conditions.
Product Director Mark Vermeulen explains that the SeaXplorer 75 is IMO Polar Code compliant, with a capacity for the long periods of autonomy at sea. The yacht includes a helideck for aircrafts up to 5-tonne maximum take-off weight, with below-deck an hangar for two helicopters fully protected from external elements. As well a large aviation fuel tank and refuelling systems are present.
Why two helicopters?
Off-piste heli-skiing or heli-boarding are hugely popular, but the sport is not without risk. When you take your own helicopter into remote mountainous (often poorly mapped) terrain, far out of range of the nearest rescue services, having a back-up helicopter quickly becomes more of a necessity than a luxury.
During the development of the SeaXplorer they had to design the right hull shape for a true expedition vessel with global capabilities. The SeaXplorer has a double acting hull, what means stern optimised for icebreaking conditions.
